My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 1/2 years. We are very, very close and best friends. We spend about 95% of our free time together and whever we can because we love each other so much. We plan on getting married and we've talked several times about that and children, so I know how much he loves me. Well, he doesn't drive yet (no we're not children just can't afford a car right now because he supports himself and I still live with my mother but I *DO* have my own car) Well, the surgeon said not to drive for 48 hours for me and I've been home since yesterday recovering. My boyfriend told me his roommate was going to give him a ride to my house last night after he got off work to visit-he gets off work at 9pm. He also said he would call right when he got off...never stopped by to visit and NEVER called until 12am!! I was so upset, and told him that so he said he'd visit this morning before work at 1pm-didn't visit AGAIN and still hasn't called-should I break up w/him?

I also want to add that we are heavy pot smokers and do it together regularly and it has not affected us negatively in ANY way for the whole 2 years we have been doing it....it's something we enjoy doing together and he's never dissed me for it ever....but when I asked him last night why he never visited after 9pm or called when he got off work was because he couldn't find a phone (he doesn't have a cell or home phone right now so I understand) but there is a payphone not even 1 min away from his house...he said he didn't have change. I know he was with guys and not cheating because his roommate would never let that happen to me without telling me (I know this for a fact) ANYWAYS, when I asked why he didn't visit he said "you know what I was doing all night" and that really upsets me. It hurt my stomach so bad to cry, but I feel it's time for us to be done....cause his priorities are obviously not right. What should I say to him or do? I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Last thing....his apartment is exactly 6 miles down the road. On this road one block from my house you can follow it for the 6 miles, make a short left turn and be at his apartment, so it's not like he would have had to drive that far or even skate for that matter. I'm so upset.

I don't want to judge but I think you both need to figure out your priorities! He doesn't have a car home phone or cell phone but smokes dope? Cut the dope and buy a car! At least start with a prepaid cell phone!

he is an insensitive looser.........stop making excuses for him....he didnt have a ride,he didnt have a phone..if he really loves you he would have walk miles thousands of miles to see you..he is a jerk....work no work he would have been there, because it just happend you had surgery.....and when you have surgery people who cares for you and loves you tend to visit you in your hours of need....dump that looser find another pot head one who would put the fire down to go visit you honey........good luck.

Leave him alone, if he is not going to support you through a surgery just imagine all the other things in life he is not going to support you on.
