BET should stand for Booty Entertainment Television. Don't get me wrong, I love behinds, but I can't hardly watch anything on there with my 5 year-old daughter without putting her out the room every 3 minutes.

Unfortunately, nakedness is the norm in today's society. Not too many years ago showing your belly button on television was wrong. And I think it's really sad that censorship is at an alltime low. I saw this girl on fuse tv the other day...her whole *** was showing and the only reason why it didn't have to be censored was because she was wearing a thong. what?! And turn it to Comedy Central and they bleep the word f*ck and sh*t but I hear the word GD aaaaaall the time! I really don't get it.

Only half naked? Where'd you find a vid that's that conservative? Not on my telly you didn't! And frankly, you're doing your child no favor by hiding her eyes. You'll do no more than convince her there's something mysterious and exciting - the forbidden ALWAYS is, don't you know! It's like hiding your bottle of wine or beer - the kid is no fool; she'll find it. Your hiding it makes her think it's something she wants. On the other hand, if she sees you drinking responsibly, she'll develop a much more mature attitude towards it. If she asks for a taste, let her taste it. No, I'm not saying pour the kid a glassful of Coors, I'm saying let her taste it. All the better if she's 5, 'cause at that age something as strongly flavored as beer, wine or booze is NOT going to taste at all appealing. She'll turn up her cute little nose at you and go "Ick!" "Yugh!" "Nasty!"

As she grows older and sees more people using the stuff, she will see those who mis-use it. You will have had, by then, time and opportunity to explain why people use alcoholic beverages and the risks as well as the benefits. Just remember: you will NOT keep her from finding out about alcoholic beverages. And you will NOT keep her from learning about nakedness and sex...in fact, at 5 she's already learned far more than you could imagine. From whom would you prefer her to recieve her information - you, or some slightly older kid down the street who's not likely to know a heck of a lot that's accurate and timely about the topic? You DON'T let her see those vids, and you behave as if shocked when they do come on, and you're setting yourself and her up for disaster. LET the kid see 'em! And if she asks questions, give her an honest and rational answer in a calm, matter-of-fact tone. At five, for instance, if she asks "Where do babies come from?" , you just say "Babies come when a mommy and a daddy love one another." She'll go "Oh" and happily wander off looking for her dolly or to devil her big brother. If she indicates a somewhat more sophisticated level of knowledge about human reproduction, again, answer honestly and matter-of-fact. Same thing: she'll take your telling her "Well, when mommy and daddy love one another, sometimes a baby starts to grow in mommy's tummy, and in nine months, she goes to the hospital (or recieves a visit from a midwife, if that's common in your community) and baby comes out of mommy's tummy. Again: she'll go "Oh" and go on to something of more immediate interest, such as "Tommy's got my hairbrush and he's smearing toothpaste all over the bathroom mirror again!" Heh - kids are wonderful, kids are inquisitive, and my dear, please believe me - they'll do just fine despite our anxieties and fears - even about half-naked entertainers on the tube! My six did...

Maybe you should watch TV programming that is not racist. What would you think if started a channel called White Ent. Tv (WET)? Look at the core of what the network and what it stands for and how it portrays itself... is that how you want to be represented?
