They really did mess up Luke's character this season...He has always been so perceptive of Lorelai in the past..He always knew exactly what she was feeling. And now this season, when it matters, they made him so oblivious! It really is out-of-character for him. They also messed up Lorelai's character. Usually she speaks her mind, says exactly what she thinks. But again, this season she didn't. The combination of both of them being so out-of-character created this whole mess.
I am so angry! I did NOT like the season finale. Especially since I hate Christopher so much.
The writers next season better fix the Luke and Lorelai situation, or there are gonna be some angry fans. Well, there already are, but they'll be even angrier! Lol.
I'm pretty sure they will though because Scott Patterson (Luke) signed on for ALL of next season whereas David Sutcliffe (Christopher) only signed on for a few episodes. So that's a good sign. Plus, they just HAVE to end up together...Fans can't take much more of this drama between the two of them.

Loirlie wants to do what is right. Luke's daughters mother does not want Loirlie around her daughter until they are married. And Luke wants to spend as much time around April as he can. Making up for not knowing he had a daughter. Rory quiting school and living withher grandparents put a strain on the relationship between mother and daughter, so Lorilie didn't want Rory to know anything until they made up. Now that things are fine between them, She is worried that Luke doesn't want to get married, and that is confusing her. She is getting this vibe from him, but to have her go to bed with Christopher, that po'ed me.
I am hoping they do not get together. Now that he has some money and can take care of her. And Rory and Logan have a life, sorta, which leaves her mother feeling a little left out, I think.
So hopefully next season will be much better and things will fall into place, at least I hope so. It's a b***h, i have to plan my evening around the tv, and tape certain shows so I don't miss Gilmore Girls. I make sure house, supper, yard work, dishes and everything else is done, so I can sit down and watch the show. It's like a drug, and this is my choice.
Thanks for asking this question.

There is nothing to explain.
The producers needed an excuse to start over on the next season, no actual cliffhanger here, everybody kinda knew that the wedding was not going to happen and Chris was appearing too often, it was obvious where this was leading to.
Now that the sex tension betwen Luke and Lorelai is dealt with, I hope the show can focus again on Rori's future.

Well, this is my mom's favorite show, next to that new Earle show whatever it's called. I think the timing is off for Luke and Lorelai. They're still working on understanding each other's motivations. It's the guy-girl thing again. Luke is more left-brained and wants structure when it comes to planning important events. Lorelai threw him for a loop by pulling a right-brained, spur of the moment proposal on him to elope - and his brain couldn't process it on that wavelength. However, she also has a strong left-brained tendency, which you can tell by her snappy dialogue and the way she runs the inn. That's the reason my mom watches it - the dialogue is well-written. Doesn't anyone in that show ever say, "Uh" or "Um"? (Ha ha.)

I also love that show...especially the relationship with Rory and Lorelai...the writing is exceptional, and often I am amazed at the quick responses they all have to one another...are we certain that April is really Luke's kid? Either way, I think things will straighten up between Luke and Lorelai, the writers have to keep us guessing as well so we are certain to stay tuned to next season...

I haven't really been watching the new episodes but I do watch the reruns quite a bit. But from what I have seen of the new ones I think that Rory and her boyfriend aren't going to last. I really hope that Lorelai has another kid with Luke and gets to know April better. This show is so realistic I love it!!!!!

I know, I was disappointed with season 6. The finale wasn't that great. It's not Luke's fault--he doesn't know what to make of Lorelei's sudden (Though it comes around every so often, fans will know) immaturity, brashness and selfishness.
Plus, I hate it how the most she and Rory h ave is a phone conversation. After season 4, the show wasn't about their relationships anymore--it was about their seperate lives.

I know what you mean. Luke has been such a jerk this season. He doesn't even realize Lorwali wants to get married. He's to obsessed with his kid. I don't want them to break up. I don't know why Loreali doesn't speak up and tell Luke what she wants. She tells everyone else, why not tell your soon-to-be hubby. I hope things change for the good, instaed of the worse in season 7.

I love the Gilmore Girls. I was hooked the first season they came out...but haven't watched much of this season cause my fiance doesn't like the show. Luke is a moron, he should just go right up to Lorelei and kiss her cause you know they both want it...

Do you mean why is he a moron because he wouldn't elope with Lorelai when she gave him her split second question? If so, Luke processes things, it takes a while. He isn't that spontaneous, he can't be, because it isn't him. Lorelai is just confused most of the time. She loves playing the I'm independent but had a sucky childhood with my rich parents. Don't misinterpret, I love the show (see my name) but everyone has their own identity, their own character, their own personality...It's them.
