LOL......I know exactly what you mean! Isn't it funny how some Wiccans, not all, but some get SO NASTY when you ask them about it, yet they are supposed to be so at peace with themselves. Drives me nuts.
Anyway, my understanding is that it's worshipping the earth, and elements. Using energy for positive things. Taking care of yourself and others around you. Invoking gods/goddess' for rituals, and incantations. Etc, etc, etc.

Wicca is a modern interpretation of more ancient, and somewhat forgotten, pagan earth-worship religions. A Wiccan is a person of either gender who identifies themselves as a practioner of Wicca.
Wicca is a religion with a basic theology and philosophy, based around a central, unknowable deity. For Wiccan purposes, this deity is separated into two parts - God and Goddess. Some Wiccans worship the Goddess more than the God and others worship each equally.
Wiccans do not worship the Devil. The Devil is the inversion of the Christian God. Wiccans accept that all things, including their deity, are capable of acts of anger - that life itself is imperfect. Some pagan gods, especially Pan, were used by parts of the early Christian church to represent the Devil. Because of this, and the Christian church's history of converting the pagans, many pagan religions became confused with Satanism.
There is no central church in Wicca, and many Wiccans practice in a solitary manner, meaning they do not belong to a local coven.
Witchcraft can be a part of Wicca, but they are not the same thing.

wiccans are a neo pagan cult looking to rebel without a clue or a cause. they have no real faith per say, it is a hodge pog of past faiths intermingeled into some new cool pagan magic thing.
In seriousness though, it is not a real religion in the sense that it has seperate doctirnes and dogmatic pratices. It s a group oriented worship scheme enveloping new age gnosticism with shamanistic roots of human tribal structure. Rather than seeking advantage, it seeks balance, because balance is an advantage.

Well, I can't find it in the dictionary here at the paper, but the way I understand it (tried it very briefly), it is a pagan religion. Based on balance, Mother Earth, spirits and the natural world. Herbs, burning candles, you get what you give, good spirits protect and bad spirits curse. Not really witchcraft, although some Wiccans practice darker arts. But they do believe in little charms and minor spells, such as blessings or luck. Can't remember much more....
Tarot cards and fate...fortune telling...things are predestined...I think this is a part of it too?
Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong...a good question...

Wicken is a name for a cult that believes in witchcraft. Supposedly they do not believe in doing evil deeds!! However, they do believe in worshiping the devil, and call upon him for helping with there spells. They usually meet in groups called "Covens".
