It depends on the type of geometry you wish to solve.
Since geometry is a physical item usually (a triangle, or circle, or quadrilateral) it can be best to either have a similar physical item in front of you, or with the use of a picture. You can use a compass, ruler, protractor, or any number of similar tools to figure out the information you wish to solve for.
