Who will win, which players will stand out, who will score the game winner? (and if you're thinking the U.S. will take it, don't even bother answering, b/c you obviously don't know much about soccer)

My family is from Argentina, so I'd love to go with carguyjf on this one, but Brazil has definitely got a great shot at this one. Ronaldinho will definitely be the star this year.
New addition to my question:
How is it possible that FIFA ranks the U.S. in 5th, and Argentina in 9th?! Argentina just won the Olympics! They're amazing! Once Tevez and Messi start playing, the finals will be down to Brazil and Argentina, w/o a doubt.

Brazil and Argentina are the best teams that i have seen at this world cup, Spain is also playing well. Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo and Adriano are all playing well.The winning Goal will be scored by Ronaldo for Brazil or Messi( the new Maradona) for Argentina

I think the ones with most possibilities to win are Argentina Brazil Italy and a little Mexico. Those are the teams that will probabley end up being at the finals.

Brazil is tipped as favourite but they are not playing up to their usual standard, neither are Argentina, Italy and France. Germany is playing true to form, so is Spain. Maybe Ghana will surprise the world and take out brazil..stranger things have happened in a world cup!

First of all, I'm an american. Secondly, my country is encridibly ethnocentric because Argentinians are also 'Americans', but everybody knows what I mean when I say I'm American so stupid Americans just keep on using it. I live in the United States. I completely agree that are ranking is entirely bogus. This was backed up by our embarrasing loss to the Czech Republic and our defeat to Ghana. We scored one goal in three games. Thats awful. Ok, now on to your actual question. Coming into the tournament, I thought Brazil and England would be very strong, but they have both dissapointed me. As of today, Brazil has won three games and given up one goal, yet I thought Croatia and Australia could have tied or even beaten them had they been more lucky. As for England, I think they are playing poorly, and that their best played game so far has been their worst result, their 2-2 draw with Sweden. I was also expecting France and the Ukraine to have better showings in the first round. They advanced, but they didnt play all that well. If the world cup wasnt in Germany, I wouldnt expect them to make the quaterfinals, but as it is, I was. Anyway, those were my views coming in. Now, with only 14 teams remaining, I have no guess who will win. Germany and Argentina have both looked strong, but they will meet in the quarterfinals, and either team could certianly win that one. However, in the end I think it comes down to the cup being in Germany. Even though England hasnt played well, I expect them to beat Portugal, largely because of Deco's absence. So that puts Germany and England in the semi's. As for the Lower Bracket: I dont think Italy is in the top four teams at the cup, but because of the pairings, if they play well I dont see anyone stopping them until the semi's. On the other side, its much more interesting. I think Ghana could upset Brazil; they have played with a lot of heart, and they will have Gyan and Essien back. They know they have absolutely knothing to lose, in fact, all of hte pressure is on Brazil. That being said, if Brazil plays their game, it shouldnt be a contest. I pick Brazil in extra time. Unless France suddenly shows up, Spain should take care of them. In the quarterfinal between Spain and Brazil, I dont know if Brazil can do it. They certianly look better, but Spain hasnt lost with their coach yet, and after decades of dissapointment in the quarters might finally get a win. So, the semis would be Gemany vs Italy and England vs Spain. I think if anyone will beat Germany, it will be England, but I'm not sure they can beat Spain. I take Germany first, Spain second, and the Italians over England on penalties for third.

Brazil definitely has the best players, but they got no team. They have the best 11 individual players running on the same field (and best back-up players sitting in the same bench).
Soccer is a team sport. Germany has the best team, and they will win the world cup.

I'm from Brazil. We have the BEST players and we have all the conditions to win. Nobody has so many good players as Brazil. But I think Portugal is very strong and Germany as the host also can win the Cup.

Brazil of course!! They are very lucky to have some of the best players in the world. Roberto Carlos awesome left kick, Ronaldinho's speed, Ronaldo's amazing goals, Adriano's youth, and the list goes on... I definitely think they're going to be the champions again.
