OK, you could have another problem. If you have a crack in the head, it can actually pressurize the cooling system....blowing the cap. You can....to get by, mind you......turn the cap back a half of a turn to take the pressure off of the cooling system. This is only a quick fix. If you're engine is pressurizing your cooling system, you WILL develop a miss. It's only a matter of time. Yes, caps do go bad. Good luck.

If there is a past history of head gasket problems there are only two things that you can do. 1) Replace the hear gasket with an thicker heavy duty gasket. 2) have the heads milled, this what I believe needs to be done because it sounds like the heads may be warped. Or at lease take them off and have them check.

Putting a lower pressure cap on is not recommended. It will cause overheating. Yes caps go bad. They can be tested at a radiator shop. They are not that expensive. They should be replaced every couple of years, the rubber seals go bad on them.

Caps can go bad but unfortunately the 94 mustang with a 6 cylinder is prone to headgasket failure
