with the growing epidemic of meth, I was just wondering if anybody has experienced a drug problem among family members? How has meth affected you personally? My aunt has almost ripped our family in half with her drug habit. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

my brother got married to his highschool sweetheart and had 2 kids. all was fine until they started hanging out with ppl on meth who were theie neighbors. they eventually started doing it to and got lost in it.
They ended up losing everything. My brother ended up in jail and my sister in law is now a prostitute. My mom is raising their kids.
its a horrible drug that makes ppls priorities all screwed up.
i watched a person go from a wonderful parent to someone who doesn't care about and has stolen from their kids. the kids are lucky if they see their parents a few times a year.
its heartbreaking
stay away from this drug

Here in California, meth use is epidemic. My students are affected because of their parents. I work in Special Education, and many of my students were born drug babies. I have a 45 year old brother who does not work and can't function as a productive member of society, he just drains my dad's bank account. Everyone is affected by meth use, even if they don't know it, or deny that a problem exists in their family.

Unfortunately, I doubt there are many anymore that doesn't know someone near to them that has trouble with meth or some kind of drug, (legal or illegal). I lost my marriage of 12 yrs. to the love of my life over drugs. Now I have to raise my two children along while I work 70 hours a week and still cannot pay my bills on time. My oldest son (by a previous marriage) is in recovery from drug use. Sadly, it has no prejustices and no boudries. My prayers are with you and everyone who are affected in any way with drugs.

I went through it personally for a few years. I had no 12 step or narcanon or anything like that. I picked up and moved away from my hometown to another state and quit associating with other meth users, cutting ties is the first thing that needs to be done.

Unfortunately, I think nearly everyone has an addict that has affected their family. My dad, mom, brother, and husband have all experienced addictions from alcohol to meth to oxycontin. Yes, the addiction rips the family up, you love the addict, but not the addiction, and it is hard to separate the two.

No, no one beside your aunt uses meth. She's the only person.

Me! My brother and a lot of my friends are into meth. It's not easy but you just have to be strong about it. Also they have to admit their problem before even helping them.

I am a recovering addict,I tore my family appart then one day I looked in the mirror and saw what I had become. I have been sober now for three years. It is hard but your family member needs your support even if he/she dosen't want it or trys to push you away

What's sad is the effect on society and not only you and your immediate family.

It''s been said, pick a flower and you move the most distant star.

Point is, everything effects everything else.
