Does anyone else have this problem? She has to control everything. It makes me insane. Is that just mother-in-laws in general?

Well, I am an alien to my mother in law! I am from a different country, different culture, and the worst thing: I'm independent!!! She thinks that my husband (her little baby!!!) should control every single thinking I have... What I do: as I can't change her, I just Play the role!!!!!! Visiting her once a week, and sometimes inviting her to go out.. Thing that she'll never do, but ok, I did my best. As much as I can, I keep her "apart" from my relationship, as well as avoiding mixing, even when we are together!!!! Consider that my husband was living abroad and he understands my way - it's more than enough!!!!And of course, praying to Allah to keep me on the right way....

Mother-in-laws can be some tricky characters. I think most of their concern is their son. They still can't get used to the fact that another woman is now doing for their child what they are so used to doing. It is just a matter of them not knowing how to let go. Just be patient and continue being the wife you are. If worst comes to worst, sit down and have a talk with her and let her know how you feel.

My mother-in-law in handicapped, so she thought she would still be number 1. My husband had to let go of her for awhile to make her see that he was an adult and wanted to be with me not her. Now that we have a child, things have changed some, but she still tries to be number one in our son's life. What ever we get him she tries to out do. Just be friendly and stay away as much as possible. That helps to keep down hard feelings.

OMG, lol, sorry, I'm the mother in law from heck! Yes, I would guess you are the wife having troubles with husband's mother. Always seems that way. Good luck. Just try to be nice and remember .... she is the one that brought him to you.

I agree!!! In a way I think we may sometimes become jealous of our husbands relationships with their mothers because we want to be the main womanin their lives. It kind of makes you go against her thoughts on everything:) Your not alone honey!

no that's not mother-in-laws general, it is just her personality.
well actually you just have to let her be like she is.
my father is the same type, he also seems wanting to control everything, but i have a guess about that attitude based on my father's story. he used to have some kind of trauma, fear. and based on that fear, he's afraid of all things being uncontrollable. it's a hard and bad attitude to have. unable to relax ?
but i just let it be.

mother-in-law r monsters just controlling u in every thing, i got pissed of with my hubby because of her, my suggestion would be JUST IGNORE HER
