We have so much violence in our community mostly affecting our teens. We have teens killing each other left and right and our president is doing nothing to fix it. When we have another dead what can he say that he did to prevent this? Nothing excatly Nothing. So now what do we do to fix it?

That's more of a question for your local authority. Not everything can be handled by the federal government. Why aren't you asking the mayor of your city? It's his city with the problem and it would be HIS law enforcement that would patrol it.

I hear your cry. I work in a school and county that has a tremendous amount of violence. When dealing with the issues of violence there are many avenues for prevention. The home is where it all begins because we are products of our environment. Our kids are exposed to endless amounts of violence through games, music and TV. This causes a type of systematic desensitization. In other words the more violence we are exposed to, the less we view it as wrong and the more normal it becomes. Lower income and education seem to be correlated to high violence as well as crime. Add all three together and you will have the lives of most of the teens I teach in the war zone I call school. The government led by Bush understands these statistics more than you and I will ever. They have made strict laws to better the schools (No Child Left Behind). Bush has tried to give tax credit for low income families. Violence prevention has been implemented in every school. But Bush cannot raise our children. And the Constitution protects the violence through media. The cure is to raise our children better, hold them accountable for their actions and show them right. Give them lives to value without the need for gangs. Communities need to stick together and set the example for our kids. You and I both know know that a child brought up properly will think twice before picking up a gun. I am a father of 4 and hold this dear to my heart- violence breeds violence and love breeds love. Take care and God bless

a balance will be struck at the global level. if ever there were a prayer to address to God it would be this: Grant Me Patience. For you may begin to see, in time, that these things and more can you not help but facilitate. The earth itself will not allow such a tragedy to befall without a degree of wrapping around-ness. so solve the iraq thing and maybe the video game craziness, the church craziness, the movie scientologist craziness, the southpark craziness, the business craziness, maybe all will just fade into the teardrop of bush as he cries home to his mommy after his time is up and the daddy didnt teach me how to do this effect wears off.

I really don't like Bush

but honestly, it's not the President's job to worry about your community. It is the local and state government's job - not the federal government's.

Why aren't you holding your local politicians feet to the fire?

Get involved in the community. Have places for teens so they can busy, have projects for kids in the neighborhood and reward them for their hard work
work with law enforcement.

The job of our Federal Government is to provide for protection from attack. Not to perform miracles. Parents need to raise their own children.

IT DOES NOT TAKE A VILLAGE.
