Don't worry about it, you will know when to push, you will feel it, just try to relax and think all the pain is going to be just for some hours, when your baby get born you will feel so much better. congratulations

I would suggest trying to find a Prepared Childbirth type of class in your area. I'd seen all the videos and learned a lot on a Psych of the Child class I had, but nothing has been as informative as the class I'm in right now. They will teach you that your uterus does 2/3 of the work and that you will feel the urge to push (if you're doing it naturally), but that if you get an epidural that urge isn't there anymore (thank god for the doctors, nurses and machines to let you know when you need to). And even better yet, it's great for the baby's father (mine didn't know that you had to deliver the placenta afterwards until class). I would highly suggest it!

I really hope that you have spoken to your doctor. Your doctor will be able to answer all of these questions for you. If you don't want to go the traditional route, and decide that you want to have your baby at home, then you need to find a registered midwife in your town or city as soon as possible.
There is so much more to pregnancy than just giving birth. Your health and eating and drinking habits throughout your pregnancy have a dramatic impact on the health of your developing child. Doctors and midwives will probably prescribe a good pre-natal vitamin containing folic acid, as this will aid in the proper development of your child. Also, if you drink, smoke or do drugs you need to stop immediately. Just a little alcohol can cause fetal alcohol syndrome in some babies. This is a horrible disorder that actually causes brain damage in your child. It is incurable. If you do drugs while you are pregnant it can also cause brain and neurological damage, and your child can be born addicted to drugs. It is also a good idea to limit caffeine, and other processed foods while pregnant.
I hope this helps!

If you are thinking about having this baby with no drugs then you are crazy! why not just get the epidurale?? The contractions are what hurts and they hurt worse then any pain that you have ever had. So if you can get soem thing to help you why suffer? It doesnt hurt the baby and it doesnt hurt you. So if i was you I would consider getting it!!
And about the pushing, that is not that bad seriously. The nurses tell you exactly what to do, so its really not that bad. I recomend taking classes, i didnt and when it came time i wish that i had!
good luck!!

okay pushing is really the easy part to me it was the contractions that hurts and gets ya! when you dilate to a full ten then you have feelings to push like you have to use the bathroom. and when you push you push with a contractions and you push like your have a bowel movement...just a strong push......i had two of mine natural and it wasnt that bad it all comes natural.....i would think about having the epidural though the contractions are what hurt BAD!! you can handle it though just remember the harder you push the sooner you can hold your beautiful baby you have waited forever for! god bless and good luck

Just take it easy until it's time. The doctors and nurses at the hospital should be very helpful. They have done this time and time again, just let them guide you through it. Your body knows deep down what to do, so just trust your instincts and enjoy the moment as much as you can. That might be hard but just keep picturing that first moment with your baby in your arms!!! Good luck

Your body was made for childbirth, it knows exactly what to do, we are just along for the ride hehe. I got the epidural with both my kids, my firstborn was completely painfree during childbirth, I think you enjoy it more with an epidural... my second, the epidural was good but I still felt some minor pain during delivery. Pregnancy is awesome, and childbirth is something you will never forget, and don't forget your body was mde for it, don't worry, you'll be suprised how much you learn and how prepared you are by the last few weeks. You'll be ready!

there is no real answer i have had two children naturally one with an epidural... the ohnly thing i can offer as advice is get an epiduarl early... you feel contractions but not the excrutiating pain... you still know when to push and feel all the pressure but you are more able to enjoy the birthing process...

Most everything comes naturally. Your doctor will tell you to push when it's time. You push just like you are trying to go to the bathroom.
