I had the same problem with my computer, and yes, Virus scans do not address the problem simply because they are not viruses.
Try a very awsome product called Webroot Spy Sweeper, it is the best on the market, and I have used them all. A free intro download should be on there website.
I also use a product called Security Task Manager, what it does is list all the running applications on your computer, in plain english, the threat rating, and how much CPU and RAM they are consuming of your systems resorces. this is found at www.neuber.com
There is also a way to disable your windows messenger, but this won't remove the problem, just make it unable for it to use your windows messenger.
Hope this helps

It seems that spyware has already taken over most of your computer. Here is some thing: (it got best answer before)
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker
The more correct term is: Spyware. What it does depending on what it is. It will do one of the following:
-Install Programs with out your permision (this will happen for sure if you have spyware already on your computer.)
-Sluggish Computer Perfromance
-Pop-Ups even when Internet Explorer it still closed
-Pop-Ups even when Pop-Up Blocker is install from a trused/popular source, such as Yahoo! Toolbar or the pop-up blocker with Windows XP Service Pack 2.
-Installed Toolbars with or without your permission.
-Extra installed Programs.
-Install backdoor programs that way your firewall is no use now. (Although this depends on the brand)
-Hack Usernames and Passwords
-Possible that it will hack private info (credit card #, phone #, Social Security #, and much more.)
-Possible that it could control your computer or take over your computer.
Use Windows Defender Beta 2 great anti-spyware protection and i use it on all my computers and it will keep out unwanted programs. Also if you install Zonealarm when spyware tries to connect to the Internet to get more programs zonealarm will show a warning that the program is trying to connect to the Internet and you could block access
to it. Like i did say earlier it could make firewalls useless, but that depends on the brand. Zonealarm watches your WHOLE system and Network and it can't be disabled by ending the process. And backdoors cant affect zonealarm.
I cant help you much with the password and ID problem, but when you boot in safe mode most of the time it will not ask for your logon if there is one account on the computer.

Dear friend if u take my suggestion u have two ways.
1.Either format C drive and re-install windows
2.Use some anti spyware like
Microsoft Anti Spyware
Spyware Doctor
Spyware Sweeper
The delay u make in treating these spywares the slower your pc become.U can use any p2p like limewire or ares to search for the full version of Spyware doctor or Spyware sweeper.
Or u can search the keys for these two at www.serials.ws
As far as Microsoft Antispyware is concerned is free.

Either call a computer technician or have a friend who really knows how to manually delete the spy-ware and viruses then once you manually remove it get Norton System Works. Make sure you get the newest year version. That's the best virus, spy-ware, pop ups and other system cleanups you can get. Once you install Norton you won't have no more problems.

spy ware (pop ups and the like) and viruses are similar but different in their resulting effect on your computers. virus scanners many times miss spyware, so you need spyware specific tools. I would start with the free ware tools if you need to like spybot s&d and ad aware but if it still fails, use webroot's spysweeper. I have been spyware free for at least a year with just webroots product running in the background.
