no but i live in the town where Andy bases the show on MT.Airy N.C. he was born a raised in Mt Airy ,he has been here several times ,there is a statue of him and Opie at the old school where he went its been turned into a theater,we have our own Floyds barber shop,and snappy lunch .and Andy himself says hes took things from the area to put on the show . Mt.Pilot is really Pilot MTN. Look it up on a map of NC and you can see.

he was the sheriff of the city of mayberry(mt.airy), witch is in Surry county north carolina. its a real place that u can visit
