Ohhhh - I am going through the same thing! Work is so slow right now it is killing me...my days last forever!

When writing e-mails, I type them on a blank word document and it looks like I am writing a report/letter or something. When I am finished, I copy and paste it into my personal e-mail and send it.
That way, it doesn't look like I am typing out an e-mail.

When browsing the internet, I copy and paste the contents of a webpage into a word document. That way I can browse and it looks like I am writing a report/letter or something.

Finally - I plan things for my friends and I to do over the weekend.
I planned a trip for us over Memorial Day to the Beach. I planned a Kayak/camping trip this past weekend...all the while, it looks like I am writing a report/letter or something.

Just a few ideas.

It sounds like you are bored and would rather be someplace else. However, a good way to make time pass faster is to ignore the time and be productive. Minutes and hours will pass quicker the more productive you are and hopefully you're enjoying what you're doing. If that doesn't work then perhaps it's time to find work that is more satisfying.

keep in touch with your friends/love ones by sending them an email, that way you'll be busy typing for a while..don't stop staring at the computer and type, type, type...Organize your pictures through yahoo photos, that way you'll stare your computer for a while but it's fun and u won't recognize the time...check out some flights even though you don't plan on travelling soon, but you'll never know you'll find some cheap affordable flights especially to Vegas!! Check your bank account, pay all your bills online..call up your family and friends but while talking on the phone, print..print just about anything...so everybody could hear your personal printer is printing...just like your working!! Take a break, walk around the bldg and say hi to your co-workers or have some coffee..that'll take care of 15 - 20 minutes of your day already..Have a nice day @ work!!

Depending on your job, if you work with spreadsheets, start just making complex spreadsheets that do just about nothing and you'll look busy, and not be actually working. If you start learning what the different types of equations in Excel are, you are even learning a skill that can help you later on too.

Get a myspace account. You won't believe how time flies when you are on there finding old friends. Warning: it's addicting.

Keep typing out answers. Keep your eyes focused on your monitor. Get really miserable and short tempered with people who try to interrupt you in this process. You will appear to be very busy and dedicated to getting your work done.

If truly what you were tasked to do is done , don't be board, attempt to configure ways to do your job even better, put it on paper then present it to your boss and ask for re-assignment and a raise.
