For Example: I heard by word of mouth from several of my Lil Sweety's brother's pre-med collage buddies that the effects of second hand smoking are not nearly as harmful as the so-called case studies claim. In fact occasional exposure to second hand smoke actually strengthens the immune system for most people. They also stated that during the mid 1980's lab rats were injected with 100X the amount of nicotine that a 3 pack a day smoker would absorb in a 40 yr period, thus most of the lab rats developed various forms of cancer and other chemical poisoning related diseases.

All studies are done with an agenda, to discover or investigate something. If results are skewed they often don't hold any water in the scientific community or won't make major press. One study isn't worth anything, but a history of repeated studies that replicate the same findings are what are held as valuable. There's a lot of factors and you have to approach each on a case by case value.

Anytime you hear anything from... "by word of mouth from several of my Lil Sweety's brother's pre-med collage buddies..."

The Internet is a powerful tool, use it and the truth shall be revealed to you. My mom has emphysema(sp?) because of my dad. Insurance companies charge a higher premium to smokers as opposed to non-smokers. I would say that the consensus is that smoking is unhealthy, period. Even RJ Reynolds will admit to that.

What are the names of these studies and who conducted them?

In some cases, the results are intentionally falsified. Be wary of any anti-drug study done by the federal government .
