A popular misconception about art is that its AUTONOMOUS!! Meaning that it should be viewed, appreciated, accepted by EVERYONE. That is not he purpose of art. Its not supposed to be singular, global, neither is any other form of expression. So many of us rate works of art as if we have any right to identify with the artist or thier expression. No amount of knowledge can prepare you to recieve...experience is the true essence of art. Theres no secret, either you get it or you dont! Its personal.
Beauty being another form of expression..one, that i feel in these modern times, that owes too much of its natural existance to commercialism/industry. Its quite frankly no longer in 'the eye of the beholder', more like 'in the hands of the insecure'.
Beauty is a subjective concept, only exist to the observer, not the object! Theres so little to be said about it..its really a matter of ascethics. And that science is long dead.
Beauty is obsolete. Dont worry, its a good thing!

What is Art? What makes a piece more valuable than the next? Why do most people find the Mona Lisa to be beautiful but not Pollack's "Starry night".
There are no real answers. You can acclaim it has to do with history, time critical review, mastering the skill, defining a new brush stroke etc.
Personally the biggest misconception about Art is that it must be a painting or a sculpture. Art is everywhere everything.

I think a common misconception is that ANYTHING can be art. Art isn't just a "hobby" or a "time-filler". Art is a part of a person's soul. Look at Kurt Cobain THAT'S ART! His music was his outcry, and no one heard it until it's too late.
Beauty is not defined by culture or man. The people on the billboards 9 times out of 10 don't think they're beautiful.
Its silly to waste your time wishing you were someone or somewhere else, because you'll mis anything that's in front of you!
