The Nintendo Wii will be a big success...i was at E3 2006 and i must say i was impressed by the (Wii). it had 27 playable games on the Convention floor all of which showed superb innovation of the "Wiimote".. As for the Sony PS 3 well lets just say that they failed to impress the media..and the crowds.and ME!!.The Nintendo booth had more people waiting to play the Wii than on the Sony side!! That alone is a sign of epic Success...i bet that even the Hard core Sony fans will find the PS 3 very Disappointing On the day of its release...."Seeing is not believing" ..."Playing is believing" "Nintendo At E3 2006 "

I believe the Wii will be a huge success. Not only is Nintendo targetting a traditionally non-gaming crowd with this device (a demographic that's much larger than the hardcore gamer demograhic), they're also positioning themselves not as a competitor to the PS3 or Xbox 360, but instead as a companion. There's a reason that representatives of both Sony and Microsoft have said that the Wii is the second console you should get (naturally, Sony says the Wii is a good companion to the PS3 and Microsoft says the Wii is a good companion to the Xbox 360). Additionally, Nintendo's truly innovative control interface for the Wii will be so easy to use and fun to play that within minutes of touching the thing, I guarantee that you and all your friends will want to own one.

Well, I've heard Nintendo - unlike Sony - are not aiming to appeal just to the hardcore gamers market this time - they are going to try and catch the attention of the millions of people who don't normally play games - hence why the innovative motion sensitive controller - which looks like a TV remote, looks far less imposing than the more traditional 10-12 button controller of the other consoles.
It's early days yet, but the Wii styling is fresh and fun (And will be available in many colours) much better than the Cubes styling - I'm thinking they might just come good against the PS3 - especially if we consider the fact that the Blu Ray drive of the PS3 will bump up the cost of the new console to at least £450, while the Wii will cost around £150.
The fact that Microsoft got their new console out early will hurt Sony much much more than it will hurt Nintendo, perhaps it will even cost Sony 2nd place in the "console war."
And just think, £300 of spare cash in getting a Wii instead of a PS3 would buy a lot of games and equipment! XD

The marketshare issue is an interesting one, but I differ in opinion. I think the Wii is an attempt by Nintendo to foster, strike that, corner a new section of the market.
It has all of the elements to appeal to those outside of the hardcore gaming market, so I can see it pulling off a win by being the console that everyone has because it is so different from PS3 and Xbox 360.

Well the playstation 3 will do alot worse than predicted because:
1) Xbox360 has amazing online mode,
2)Playstation is overpriced,
3)Blu-Ray has never been tested in a market and
4)Nintendo will own niche games. The DS seems to be working so people want new experiences.
My prediction:
Nintendo will be suprise second.

...Hm...I think that's what all of us Nintendo fans are thinking. What I think is this: Maybe. It's a make it, or "break it" sort of thing. I think that Nintendo has guts. And the whole creating a whole new type of controller. They are a little behind on the onlines, I admit. But I understand that they aren't big on going all out like ps3 and 360. Remember, they are trying to create a full gaming console. Hopefully, they make it. I know that I will get the system when it comes out.

Nintendo was second to Sony and Microsoft last round and I think they will again. I like the idea of the wii and I definitely want one, but I think the radically different control style will be a novelty at most that wears off quickly

Yes only in the beginning, but then it will gradually go down to third just like the Gamecube and do you know why? Because Nintendo only offers a limited amount of great titles all the other 3rd party titles are just crap.
