I HAVE A PSP AND IS A GOOD SYSTEM BUT I HAVE MORE FUN PLAYING WITH A DS.
YOU CAN WATCH MOVIES ON A PSP BUT THE MOVIES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE, I RATHER BUY THE DVD AND WACHT IT ON MY TV. A MEMORY STICK FOR THE PSP IS ALSO TOO EXPENSIVE

The ds is better than the psp
Ten reasons why a ds is better than a psp
1) Most of the ds games are original and only released for that format - nearly all the psp games have been also released (or due to be released) on the ps2.
2) The ds is a lot more reliable - psp's are too fragile.
3) The psp is more interested in graphics than game content. Game content is much more important to me than graphics. I can spend hours playing the awesome highly addictive game Pong on my ds (one of the games on Retro Atari) which much more fun than some of them psp games. Big suprise Pong is not out on the psp.
4) The batteries on a psp dont last as long as a ds's.
5) There are too many 'add ons' on a psp that are not necassary for a games console while a ds just does what a games console is designed to do which is play games.
6) More ds consoles have been sold than psp's.
7) The ds has awesome wireless multiplayer action and only one of the players need to have the game
8) The ds has awesome touch screen technology and built in microphone which a lot of ds games take full advantage off.
9) There are more games out on a ds than a psp.
10) The ds is backward compatible for gameboy advanced games.

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a machine to play music and watch video on a tiny screen, with the added benefit of occasionally playing a game or two, I guess the PSP is right up your alley. However, in my own experience and with the fact that the UMD format is failing spectacularly, I suspect most people are more interested in playing games than using a big bulky device for music (rather than something elegant like the iPod) or a tiny screen for movies.
If you want to play games, by far the best system is the Nintendo DS. This has been proven again and again as high-profile people (for example, Tycho and Gabe from Penny Arcade) proclaim that the DS is simply more fun than the PSP. Why do they claim this? Because it is. I personally own both, and I almost *never* pick up my PSP anymore. However, I use my DS every single night. Not only is the control interface (read: touch screen plus the regular button layout, and the dual screens) more engaging, but the games are simply more *fun*. Don't believe me? Go out and pick up a copy of New Super Mario Bros., the latest craze to hit the DS. You'll understand why everyone loves it pretty quickly. Or try any of the myriad of other Nintendo games. Heck, you can even play any of the massive library of GBA games on the DS. This means right out-of-the-box the DS has far more games in its catalog, and in general the games are simply more fun.

i think it depends on the games you like playing....psp has more "in depth games" as ds has more cartoon like games....psp games are a bit more serious and the graphics are slightly better since it can run up to 60fps.Quality wise the psp is much better and more sturdy....the ds is merly a piece of plastic.
