It could be a number of irritants causing it. It is not just uncleanliness that causes it either. If you shave down there, then the hair grown back can cause the itch and the newly exposed skin can be irritated by being exposed to things it has not experienced before. My suggestion would be to at least rinse it off and examine the area itching. If it is internal then it could be that there is something like a piece of lint or something like that there or some other irritants (especially if you are sexually active). Just wash really well down there with a warm, wet, washcloth and see if it stops. If it continues for a long period of time, go talk to your doctor. It may be an allergice reaction to something you are unaware of.

You might have a fungal or viral infection or a number of things if the itching is inside (or outside). If you shave and the itching is only on the outside, then it could be because if irritation from shaving and/or dry skin . You should check with a doctor to see what is causing your condition Pruritus Vulvae (itchy vulva).

you could have a yeast infection which can be treated with any yeast infection cream at your local store, monistat7 is a good one. You could also have been exposed to an STD if you dont always use the proper protection. So it might be wise to go to your local health department and get tested. So that you can get treated and never do anything unprotected!

You didn’t write how old are you, but if there is risk for STD, maybe you should visit your doctor anyway. Itching could be sign for something that should be treated. Also, if there is vaginal discharge that is different then usually, definitely visit gynecologist. He will prescribe right medicine to solve your problem as sooner as it is possible.
