We live in a world of appearances. Strangers looking at your appearance may be associating your goth look to their on pre-conceived notions about the "Devil". On it's most simplistic level, the goth appearance has a history going back before medieval times: black robes, etc., to the writings of Euripedes. Check out some books on the history of fashion if you want to understand that aspect of it. As an experiment, try walking around in public in a white 3-piece suit with a Bible clutched to your chest and see what kind of responses you get. Might make an interesting documentary, comparing reactions to both looks.

They don't necessarily assume THAT, although some may. Most of us merely assume that you have no imagination and can't think for yourself, which is why you follow a trend such as goth. Dressing goth was new and unique 15 years ago. Now it's just as bad as following any other fashion trend. Boring.

Because of ignorance of gothic subculture and practices. Most goths have encountered this problem; I know I have ( I am a Christian also, by the way). The dark and stark look of many Goths make people think of Vampires and other creatures of the night which many people think are the servants of Satan or the devil.

because people that are goth wear mostly black and look depressed, and if you worship GOD, you wouldn't be depressed, you would run around singing all the time. Amen

Its the kind of things that people think that you goth ppl do. they think that you want to kill someone, because you wear black, wear chains on your pants and baggy pants ppl assume things, before they get to know you.

becuz normally goths were all black and black represents darkness or evil. Why do people look at us blacks and assume were thugs are were going to do somethin bad its just a stereotype world.
