That made me laugh, not because I think it's stupid, but because it would be great for the next president to see exactly how many people DIDN'T like him in the next election. What would it hurt?

The reason is kind of obscure. You see, when the framers designed the constitution, they laid out the path to choosing a leader. The president is called "The best man for the job." However, as we all know, the president can be just about anyone. If during an election there is no candidate you particularly like, you need to pick the lesser of the two evils.

Just don't mark the ballot for either candidate or don't vote. But that would be a useful button, come to think of it. I could see it now, the majority of the vote went to "NO BEST OPTION." Now what?
