There is a waiting period of 6 months of being disable before benefits can be paid. If it is SSI they will back pay you the 6 months waiting period amounts. Social Security will not back pay but will pay the premium disability amount for 18 or 24 months, I don't remember which it is, and then drop considerably to the normal rate. The 18-24 months is to allow you to buy or sell or move to decrease your debts before you go to the standard rate.

Depends upon the disability.. I know of people who have had to file 2 or 3 appeals.. The general consensus, is that they will allow it after your 3rd appeal--if they do turn you down the first 2x..
You have to be persistent,,, and if you do have to do all those appeals,,, well you wont see any of those SS $$ at least for 2-3 years>

well first contact your employer , and ask them about your disability contacts. then contact a disability lawyer for they can get the party started right . and then when you get that fat check from the back months that you have waited for save it or start your own business because life is two short for s.s.d. to control your life for you have the right to receive fair judgment and its not being recognized ....

FOREVER! My father and grandmother died before they were able to get theirs. Unless you have a lawyer that can pull strings for you. You will be waiting too.
