how long does it take for social security disability to answer approval for benefits? i've waited 6 months

I was approved right away,but I have heard of people waiting over years.I would get an attorney.

IT TOOK MY WIFE ALMOST 3 YEARS. SHE HAD TO ACQUIRE AN ATTORNEY WHICH INCLUDING WAITING FOR A HEARING!
