actually this is counter-intuitive but call a travel agent. they are cutting better deals than ever, even better than all the online stuff. The travel agent companies are feeling the heat from everyone buying online instead of through them and they are making great deals. Friends agent was $400 cheaper than travelocity/expedia/yahoo/overstock etc... PLUS all the details are handled by the agent, much less hassle than online trip planning

I like Site59, if you're the spontaneous sort. Travel Zoo also has a good listing of deals. I mainly use the regular sites--Expedia, Orbitz, CheapTickets, are where I've found the best deals.
