No. Just bright lights does not explain the trick.

I know how a lot of large-scale illusions occur, and while I won't give away any of his secrets, let me assure you it is based on solid science and psychology, and that David travels with several semi-trucks full of gear for his show.

Just as a hint- most illusions work by taking advantage of the fact that you see what you think you see, not necessarily what is really there- your own assumptions trip you up. To complicate matters- immediately afterwards, your memory fills in various gaps, making the trick even more specatular!

Did you notice the Chriss Angel special where he picked up a taxi? Did you notice that it immediately drove off without letting others try? That he never lifted any car that a spectator could try out later? (Sure, it was a taxi, so that makes some sense that it drove right off- but surely the driver would have been freaked and hung around?) Why did Chriss never try this with a car in the lot?

This was a great use of build-up and manipulation of expectations- you EXPECT a taxi to be 'chosen at random', you EXPECT a taxi to drive right off, etc. Would you have been as amazed if it had been car he had just pulled out of his workshop?

By the way, if you join your local magic club, you'll eventually find out how to do a LOT of this kind of thing!

Jesus is an unaccountableble and irresponsible fiction. David Copperfield is an entertainer. Jesus gave the world nothing. David Copperfield gives the world entertainment. God is a myth.
