the yankees are americas team along with the marlins the red sox the rockies and any other major league team anyone can think of. a post like this annoys the hell outa me because every team is americas team u want americas team turn the all star game comes on once a year those are the best players we have. by the way yankees suck man. the reason no one will agree (or very few people) is because the only people that will make a comment like that (on a regular basis) are yankees fans. for example a comment is made saying that the yankees are good you see more posts saying there not or that another team is better. ten bucks says if i put a post saying the same thing only about the marlins or the dodgers im gonna get more posts saying the yankees are better or the phillies or the mets or something. humans are naturally argumentative and theres no way around it that my freind is why it seems like no1 agrees. a perfect example of what i just said is above the yankees suck part.

Why would you need other people to agree with something that is only your opinion? I personally root against the Yankees because I am an Oriole fan but I don't hate the Yankee players as a whole. For example, Jeter is a classy guy. My main problem is with ignorant Yankee fans like yourself. If everyone agreed with you there would be no other teams to root for in Major league Baseball. Finally, as baseball is really an intra-national sport (not counting Toronto), the only real claim to the moniker of America's Team is our boys playing Italy this Saturday in Germany. The World Cup matters to about a billion more people than those damn Yankees.

Because America always roots for the underdog and the Yankees have won far too many World Series to be considered the underdog. They annually make the playoffs and are always in contention. America's Team must represent the "American Dream", a rag's to riches story that real people can relate to. The Yankees are more like a corporation that continuously crushes the competition, for that reason teams such as the 1969 Mets, Last year's Steelers, 2004 Boston Red-Sox, etc more accuately can be called America's team. Every year, people expect the Yankees to be in the race and unfortunatley that makes people hate them.

Because they're not! OK maybe they have the most rings out of any Major League Baseball team, but America was once an underdog. The Yankees always have a great team on the field, and its been years since they havent had a winning record. Not much of an underdog. America's team (which there is none) would have to be an underdog that achieved greatness through many years of work and consistency.

If the Yankees were America's team, wouldn't they have won the World Series some time in the last 7 years?

I AGREE WITH YOU MY FRIEND!! The Dallas Cowgirls aren't America's Team, THE NEW YORK YANKEES ARE!!

GO YANKEES!!

And I don't believe the majority of people hate the Yankees, you are living in a dream world if you think that...YANKEES RULE and most people know it and most people love the Yankees they just won't admit it!!

They won't agree with you because, they are probably red sox, mets and braves fans.

I'll agree with you, they are America's team, but then you had the President say in 2001 that he was glad the Diamondbacks beat the Yankees. So, I guess you have to add the state of Texas to that list too. Jealously isn't an admirable trait.

Because the Yankees are NOT America's team. They are a bunch of high priced, over paid players that will not win the World Series this year.

Too many people hate the Yankees. Red sox fans. Mets fans. Every other teams fans. Yes they're probably the best team historically but people just don't like them. Not to mention the fact that with a $200 million payroll they're not rolling over people.

Because I live in America and they sure ain't my team!

I'm a Tigers fan and thus love to hate the Yankees. The game wouldn't be the same without them - but couldn't they NOT make the playoffs just occasionally?
