Diarrhoea can be acute (sudden onset and lasts less than two weeks) or chronic (persistent). This leaflet deals with acute diarrhoea, which is common in children. The most important part of treatment is to give the child lots to drink.

Too much sugar: in the form of candy, sweet buns or foods the body quickly changes into sugar for the body to use. Then there are virus that are self limiting and will run their course in 24 hours. Food poisoning can be a factor also. Small children dehydrate quickly and Pedilyte is preferable to Gatorade for small children, as Gatorade is designed for the more mature "gut".

Diarrhea is most often associated with a viral infection which will likely need to "run it's course". Keeping them hydrated is the most important thing. Gatorade and the like will be good for giving them nutrients, but water is the absolute best for quick hydration.

while this may be a most uncomfortable feeling in children it can be caused by many things;
Diet- you child may have a allergic reaction to a certain type of food, or has had an excess of to much of one type of foods(IE. beans, ice cream, green veg's)
Viral- must run it coarse like the flu- must have lots of fluids and rest.
Bacterial- can be treated with antibiotic
Most importantly be sure to wash hand, and keep the area of exit clean...your child may get a rash due to the excessive use.
Be sure to reassure your child that it's OK to be sick and that it will pass.

DIARRHOEA IN CHILDREN IS OFTEN SEEN AND IN SMALL CHILDREN THIS HAPPENS DUE TO UNHYGENIC FOOD AND SURROUNDINGS. SO IN ORDER TO PREVENT IT KEEP THE CHILD AND HIS SURROUNDINGS CLEAN, ALSO SEE TO IT THAT THE LIQUID INTAKE SHOULD BE FULLY SATISFIED AS B'COZ OF THIS THERE IS LOSS OF WATER AND SALTS SO GIVE ORS AND SUGAR AND SALT SOLUTION TO THE CHILD ALONG WITH OTHER FLUIDS SO AS TO KEEP HIM HYDRATED. ALSO CONSULT THE DOCTOR IF REQUIRED.

The severe danger is dehydration caused by loss of fluids. Plenty to drink and if it persists for more than one day contact your doctor.
