If you stretch your thumb and first finger on your left hand so that they are at 90 degree angle, they will form an L, that's how you know it's your left hand. And when you know that's your left hand it means the other one is your right hand.

It's all in the question, "What's in a name/label?" Calling a rose by any other name is still a rose. Brain signals lets your muscles know which group of muscles you want to move. It does not work on our labels. But through reinforcing name labeling, you learn to know what is what. I guess the same as you knowing your mouth and nose. LOL!
