I am an office manager for a small company who has just started out 4 years ago...I like the job because it's flexible, and the people I work for are very nice, and know for many years. The problem is that there's sometimes alot of fights among them, and there's alot of mis communication, and sometimes no respect. I never had work for a company before and have no experience. I'm trying to learn as much as I could to do my job right, but I'm not a fast learner, and sometimes they expect a lot from me. I feel pressured, uncomfortable with all of the problems, and the unorganization here in the company. At times things are cool, but then issuse come up every once in a while and I feel uncomfortable again. I'm thinking on leaving the job and look for another one...but it's not easy to look for a job that is as flexible as this one... but at the same time I get tired of all the drama, and problems we sometimes have. What would you do?? Would you put up with it, since it's flexible or leave?

If it were me, I would look for another job but keep this one until I found something else. It is always easier to find a job when you have a job.

Do what you can to educate yourself (like taking training classes on weekends and in your spare time) and don't settle for something just to get away. Take your time and find the perfect job. Since you have a job, you are in no hurry. Just take your time and be very selective.

Good luck.

There are problems everywhere in every job. I was in your situation for about five and half years. But the thing was that the job was flexible with my school classes (i was doing my undergrad and graduate degrees while I worked there) and I used it for what it was. Now, that I have a degree and experience behind me, I moved to something a lot better. Just ask yourself-are you getting more benefits out of it that it would be worth it to stay or there isn't much to keep you there.

It sounds like the people you work with have no idea how you feel. It is very important that they do. So sit down with them and let them know exactly how it is. They will help you decide to stay or leave by their reaction. Besides, they need to know for the sake of the company. A small company in turmoil will not survive anyway. So either way, they will be your best barometer. Good luck, bv

I do. I work in a job I like with the most annoying assholes co-workers there could be. The pay is good, I like what I do, but I hate my co-workers. But I enjoy it, I got my own cublicle, my own computer, and no one checks up on me. I just don't talk to anyone here.

Welcome to life ... but seriously, how long have you been at that job? Stick it out for a while (about a year) then make a decision by then. If there are dangerous situations like sexual harassment, then get out now!
