Vernon Davis will most likely be starting alongside a matured Alex Smith at QB and Frank Gore (who should take over rushing duties from anyone else there). With his skills and a still questionable defense to face with Arizona, Davis could cash in early for being a rookie. McCareins has yet to really blossom under the NY Jets system because it is not the right fit for him (he was better off in Tennessee). Besides, Tennessee's defense is coming back at nearly full strength and could pose a more likely problem for a questionsable offensive situation.

Why in the world would you have done a draft already? Never ever ever do a legitimate draft any sooner then 2 weeks before the beginning of the regular season. The official training camps haven't even begun. Every year there are always a minimum of 2-3 season ending injuries to quality players as well as salary cap cuts and trades. Who knows anything about those defenses or if Vernon Davis will have any chemistry with Alex Smith.
By the way, Justin McCariens is useless, go with Vernon Davis.

I have no idea why you'd do a draft this early but go with Davis. The 49ers have no offense line so they can't run the ball and Alex Smith will be looking to get comfortable which means check downs early and often to Davis. The kid can break arm tackles and if you'd notice NFC West teams aren't exactly known for the tackling. He'll make something out of nothing more often than not. Once/IF A. Smith ever does get comfortable throwing the ball he'll have a nice chemistry built up with Davis and if you watch tape on Davis he definitely will fight for the ball.

McCareins is a career lackluster performer. Guaranteed to have 2 games a year where he hits 80-100 yards and then he'll disappear for weeks at a time...not worth starting.

You've gotta go with Vernon Davis. With the poor running game in San Fran a TE like Davis is a quarterbacks dream! Look for Davis to have 70+catches and darn close to 1000 yds and 7+ TD's

At least for the first week go with Davis.

Oh and if you're looking for people to fill up your league let me know (if it's Yahoo! that is)

Davis. I had McCariens for 2 weeks last year, and I dropped him. He produced nothing, and Davis might be the No.1 target on the 49ers.

Davis without questinon and they don't even play the same position Davis is a TE and McCariens is a WR.

The re-vamped Niner offense will focus more on the TE position this year. If the reports of his speed are true, not many safeties can match his size and few strong side LBs can check this guy. He's a great late-round pick, and warrants a starting slot over McCariens, who hasn't justified many roster spots in the last year.

Usually tough to go with Rookies but Davis is special. McCarrens is overrated big time. He cathes 3 balls a game at best. Davis will do that in first half...
