Welcome to turbos. Your gas shouldn't really be smelling much though. Whent the entire combustion process takes place, a little oil is used along with the gas. I have a 911 turbo and need to keep putting oil in it once in a while, like every few fill ups of gas! Make certain you don't have a huge gas leak or something like that.

One or numerous piston rings are leaking by. When the intake valve opens a mixture of gas and air enter which is then compressed prior to ignition. If the piston rings are leaking by then some of that mixture is forced past the piston to the side that is being lubricated by your oil. Hence the oil gets contaminated with gasoline

Your rings are shot on the pistons. They are allowing unburnt fuel to mix with the oil. Your turbo is probably bad as well because it's oil cooled and it has been getting contaminated oil. Basically the motor is on it's way to the grave.

Are you sure it amells like gas and not radiator fluid maybe? If it smells like radiator fluid then it could be a blown or cracked head gasket. I've never heard of oil smelling like gas, though.

it could be a ring on one of the pistons. you are suposed to have oil on one side of the piston, and gas on the other. if the ring goes bad, then it will allow the gas to move to the wrong side of the piston into the oil. (and vice versa)

the gasket may be old and rotted away.

I had this problem before, and the gas leaked into the oil.
