Each country (mostly the democracies) offers something that is better than what America does such as the Netherlands have more free speech, German deals with the health care the best, Switzerland deals with unemployment the best and on it goes but I do think the innocent til proved guilty idea of America is best. Most Americans just love their country especially when talking from someone from another country but most people love the country they love as long as they have rights and opportunities. That said you will rarely find an American that doesn't have something about their country they hate and I think its true for most people in other countries just don't expect them to admit it to a foreigner hehe! Also, not many Americans are interested in other countries because until recently we were not impacted by them as much as other countries seem to be impacted or knowledgeable of us.

i dont see how not liking soccer and rugby make america less great. America is okay, and we are the strongest country in the world politically, militarily and economically, definitely lots of people want to come over here, more so than europe. Id definitely like to move to europe or canada one day, but for the record, american football and basketball and baseball are WAYYYY better than those pansy sports you guys play....
By the way you should be thanking america because without us and the Marshall plan europe would be the same smashed up dump it was after world war 2, we rebuilt europe.

Its just the perception that Americans feel they have it better. Ive been to many countries and the feel is the same there too, but its often an uneducated statement. Much so-called American pride comes from people who have barely left their state let alone the country. I do love this country, enough to admit when things are wrong and want to better things here as well as overall opinions about it.

Your statement above is quite correct. Europe has much more solidity, freedom, democracy and liberties and is also much more diverse and cultured.
In my opinion there is nothing great about the USA, except their great ignorance for everything outside their country.
And why do they think they are great? Well, it's ignorance again. Since most Americans don't know any other place, they have no comparison. And it is so easy to be ignorant, arrogant and self-centred.

Why do all Euros care what americans think about their own country? Euros think their countries are great, they just only show it in connection with sports, like the World Cup or Soccer Hooliganery. In conclusion, soccer is dumb, american football is great, Euros wear tight pants and men hump men.

Maybe it has something to do with, and this is just a guess. The schooling in the states seem to teach children to be more patriotic than europe. what with all the anthem singing in class. Plus America is pretty cool so no big bother!

i wouldn't go so far as to say that you dont know what youre talking about, but i'll venture to say that you are proboly the quintisential "euro-snob" or as i like to put it "euro-trash"
we like ourselves JUST fine, tought guy. and if you dont like it here then please by all means leave. Trust us, we know what the hell rugby is, they play it in collages here all the time. I think you're still pissed that we won the war and we dont have to listen to you tool bags anymore. get over it. this has solidified my theory
that europeans are pretentious douche bags. I have no idea why noone like us however, when ever theres some sorta war, THE US fixes everything. ket me ask you this tea-boy? where the
**** was france during the war? home counting their baggets, thats where.

Maybe we think our country is so great because who else lends so much money to other countries just to help them from going belly up. It's not out fault that those countries don't use the money for what they promised they would. When was the last time your country lent money to another country to help them out?
I guess we aren't the smartest country after all because our politicians haven't collected any of the money from any of those countries that borrowed from this GREAT country of ours but don't blame "We the people" for that because it's our hard earned money that was actually "given" and not really "Lent" to those countries. I doubt if any politician really intended to get our money paid back from any of those countries.
We the people really don't have much if any say on how or where our money goes once the taxes come out of our paychecks and that isn't what I would call democracy at all.
When was the last time your country went broke because of "lending" money to other countries? We hold that record and we are not proud of it either because where has it gotten us anyway? All those countries hate us for whatever reason but we still hand out money like it was free to give away.
As for sports----I for one could care less about any sport at all plus the sport of "football"--keep it too. I don't know much about sports and that's the way I like it too.
As for what you know about, I for one could care less. Half American, which end is that? For being half American you sure don't sound or act like it one darn bit so just stay where you are and keep your mouth shut about our country because we love our country but would like to be able to keep our money in this country as there are so many needy people here to care for as it is.
I guess I'm fed up with people from other countries running ours down in the ground without really knowing what's going on for us here and why it's happening to us also. It isn't our fault that this country gets involved in other peoples affairs, we are told that we HAVE to or else and we would truly rather stay out of the business of other countries completely and try to live in peace with all nations but our words are never listened too by those in office here and they are the ones who insist on budding into other nations affairs.
Don't hold it against the rest of us for what is going on with our government either.
You asked and I gave my opinion wether it's liked or not it's my opinion.
It's my country and no matter what else I love this great land of ours and I thank God everyday for letting me be here and not in any other country because we as a whole are the GREATEST!!!
Happy trails to you!!!!!!

living here a few years doesnt make you an expert about knowing this country. I mean Its history speaks for itself basically. We have more freedoms than any other country out there. I think the question should be, what's not so great about this country?
