The country I meant to refer to is the United States, but thanks for the international answers

I assume that the US is the country in question?

Southerners are friendly, to be sure, but I'd say that down-to-earth Midwesterners are just as nice--trustworthy and eager to make a person feel at home (I'm originally from Ohio, so I'm definitely biased!).

You didn't say what country! Since this is in fact an internationally accessed site let me add my fav friendliest place...Nova Scotia, Canada.

If you were a stranger lost or injured in need of any help, these people would take you in and make you family in a heartbeat. They open their homes to the families grieving lost planes and ships. They housed the passengers rerouted Sept. 11.

Oh and can they party!

South, I've been all over this country. There are rude people everywhere, but the native residents of the South are the most courteous and hospitable in the country. The north-east, North-central and North-west are the worst.

St. Louis area -- The region was a stopping point for everyone from settlers to gamblers and that spirit lives on in the liveliness and hospitality of the people.

the South, it's like home. I've been to all of the other sides and i definitely would say that none of them are the friendliest.

Supposedly we are friendly in the South. That is mostly true, but if I do not like you, I am not going to be friendly.

They say the south...I'm in Georgia so my answer might be biased.

Why? Well I think it's because life might be a bit slower down here...maybe it's a cultural thing. I don't know.
