I got a transmission flush at Jiffy Lube, and about 2-3 weeks later, my car started shifting funny, and the D4 light started flashing. I took my car straight to a mechanic. I told him I just got a flush at Jiffy Lube, and he said Jiffy Lube uses Dexron III, which is not good for use in my car (2002 Honda Accord V-Tech V6). He flushed it with the right fluid which helped the shifting a bit, but he told me that the damage caused was permanent, and that I would eventually need a new transmission. I looked in my user's manual, and there it was: Only use Honda transmission fluid. Use of Dexron will decrease shift quality, only use temporarily if absolutely necessary.

My car drove well before, but now it has been driving bad ever since. I went to Jiffy Lube and told them what happened. They won't take responsibility for it, and I can't afford a new transmission (about $4,000). Has anyone else had this problem? Should I sue? Is there a class action lawsuit that I can join?

there were 60,000 miles on the car when I got the flush, as recommended in the user's manual. this incident happened about 8 months ago, so now there's 75,000 miles on the car. I waited a while, because I hoped the problem would go away, but it has just gotten worse, like the mechanic said it would over time.

I can't afford a lawyer, if I could, I would just save the hassle and just buy a new transmission. Does anyone know of any lawyers that would do the case for free, or just take part of the settlement after it's won? Maybe if it's a class action I would not have to pay any money up front.

Contact your state attorney general. Explain your situation and problems you are having. Then file a complaint with jiffy lube. Large company's like this generally do not like these type of complaints against them.

Write to the corporate office through Jiffy Lube's websites. Document contact with Jiffy Lube. Get an estimate of repairs to the transmission.

Sueing them is a little bit out of the way. At least the Jiffy Lube francise. Instead, sue the individual mechanic(s) who worked on your car.

Also, get with a lawyer to see if you can do anything to begin with, also file a report with the police as it is damage to private property. They may laugh at you, but it should help in making a case if need be.

Write to the Jiffy Lube company headquarters with the facts about your transmission fluid change. The fact that they used the wrong fluid should hold them liable for a transmission replacement. **Just another reason I HATE automatic transmissions**

I've heard of lots of people who have had this problem and it's not just jiffy lube. You live and you learn. Sadly, this is one of life's more expensive lessons.

First off, are you sure it was them that did it.

How many miles are on the car.

Proof of what it was like before.

Skye is wrong. you asked them to work on your car, and you signed a waiver.

tell them what they did and also talk to a lawyer that specializes in small claims.
