I don't support it and probably won't ever will. I am not condoning that persons actions, but shouldn't they have to spend the rest of their life in prison and think about what they have done? That would be the more fitting punishment.

Morally? No-God permit this with the people. Until he changes things to a new way people were allowed to judge of earthy things just not the heart. it was a protection to the people.

Very debatable subject. It does seem Ironic that We would kill someone for killing someone! Reminds me of when we would "Skip" school and get caught. They would suspend us for 3 days! LOL! BUT, the other side of the Coin to Capital Punishment, is, do we as tax payers HAVE to support this person for the rest of their life in Prison?
What I feel, is, we could do away with Capital Punishment and give a life in prison. BUT!!!! The Prison system should be set up just like a self-contained society! Why? I feel we work, pay bills, pay DOCTORS, buy food etc. IF, the prison system could be setup in a way the Prisoners could work (Produce a sell-able product) then they would earn money to pay their way in prison. IF, one of them not want to work, then he not eat! Unless his society want to provide a Welfare system as we do.
Hope you see what I try to say, wanted to keep it short, but, get people to thinking. I myself do not like my Taxes supporting Prisons, and, there are other things I not like to support. BUT, the American way, is for the people to come together and MAKE the Government work for ALL concerned. True we can never please everyone. This just my opinion of ways we as a people can Address the issues of Capital Punishment. Others may have some better ideas, including the Death Penalty.

Ahh Grasshopper,
You are in charge of your own moral beliefs, therefore you are capable of answering your own question.
Ethically is another aspect of this same question.
I used to be an adamant supporter of the death penalty, until I watched the movie DEAD MAN WALKING, and read that sisters book.
Now I have changed, and don't believe in the death penalty. The system is kinda messed up, as innocent men are put to death too. Since DNA evidence came about, a bunch of men have been found innocent of their crimes, after spending years on death row, and some just years in prison.

I agree with you somewhat. It troubles me to hear of an inmate waiting 10 , 15, 20 or more years on death row. They are spared being locked up in general population and having to get the crap kicked out of them or getting raped. The people who get a death sentence are usually protected a lot more than someone who hasn't even committed a violent crime. There is such thing as prison justice and the sickos on death row are isolated from it.

Nothing morally wrong with that as far as I can see. A bit silly having taxpayers pay to support killers for their entire life but being silly isn't amoral.

No I don't think it's morally wrong to be agains't the death penality and more than it's morally wrong for me to support the death penality. This is a free country and you have the right to hold any opinion you want.

well no, that is simply your opinion and i don't personally think it reflects your morality... i will say that it is extremely expensive to keep prisioners in jail - esp the very dangerous ones - they need high security, which costs lots to pay the guards and they need healthcare and food... all expensive - saves money to just kill them off... they are a drain on society and most of them aren't remorseful about what they have done anyway - the recitivism rate is extremely high.

Its the cost really...and a lot of people on life sentences 'get off' early!

What would you rather have? Your taxes spent on keeping a Paedofile who raped and killed your kid in a prison with 3 meals a day and activities to keep him entertained? OR have him executed, and put the money into education and the health system??

You decide!

Why punish the tax payers?

Your stance would most likely change if someone you loved was the victim.

You question should be is it morally wrong for the Government to execute it's own citizens. Guilty or Not
