For numbers greater than one, the square root of the number is less than the original number. (e.g. square root of 9 is 3.)
But for numbers between zero and one, it is the other way around.
Think of it this way. When you square a number larger than one, e.g. 3*3 = 9, the result is bigger. When you square a number between zero and one, e.g. 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4, the result is smaller.
Taking the square root is like undoing the squaring operation. So when you take the square root of a number larger than one, the result is smaller than the original number. (e.g. square root of 9 is 3). And when you take the square root of a number between zero and one, the result is bigger than the original number. (e.g. square root of 1/4 is 1/2.)

The square root of 0.5 is not 0.25. It's the other way around. The square root of 0.25 is 0.5. The square root IS larger than the original number.

The square root of 0.5 is not 0.25 but 0.707. The square root of .5 or any other number will be less than that.I think u r ignorant about the meaning of the word "square root".
In this case, the square root of 0.5 is the number with which u multiply with itself to get 0.5.So naturally it should be less than that.

I think you have it in reverse order. The square root of 0.5 is not 0.25. The sq root otf 0.25 is 0.5. So now I don't know what you are asking.

no because the square root will always be smaller. Just like 49's square root is 7. Square root means that when you multiply two exact numbers, you will get another number, making the 2 previous numbers the square root. You can not multiply something by something and get a smaller number then you had before, unless you multiply by a negative.

The square root of .5 does NOT equal .25. The square root of .5 is approximately .707106. So, it is greater than .5, like you asked. .5 squared is .25 which is smaller because you are taking a half or a half.

square of 0.5 is 0.25 and not square root
the square root of 0.5 is 0.707
verify by multiplying .707 * .707 ~ .5 (approx)
.5 X.5 =.25

square root of .5 = .707, so you are right, it should be greater and it is.
Now you probably mean to ask about .5 squared. See it this way:
.5 squared is the same as taking half of .5 (or .5 x .5)(since .5 is half) and half of .5 is .25
get it? I hope so
