Psychological scars. PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Rape effects all future relationships. It affects your ability to trust and interact with people, even people of the same gender. Causes anxiety...like; will it happen again, how can i prevent it? (To some extent it causes Paranoia)
People who have been raped often relive the event over and over again. It's like one big nightmare. It affects how they raise their children.
It causes severe depression. I would have to say that it causes a person to feel victimized, violated, dirty, ashamed, embarrased, scared...and so much more...
It's really an awful thing.

Here's more about PTSD;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PTSD
Symptoms of PTSD can include the following: Nightmares, flashbacks, emotional detachment or numbing of feelings (emotional self-mortification or dissociation), insomnia, avoidance of reminders and extreme distress when exposed to the reminders ("triggers"), irritability, hypervigilance, memory loss, and excessive startle response.

It's really a scary thing and it lasts forever. Time heals all wounds but it never completely goes away, ya know?

Speaking from a personal experience when you are molested or raped it has a major effect on all areas of your life. I have physical scars on the inside that will NEVER go away !!! And emotional scars that won't go away either!! The pain is so signifigant you feel that there is no one you can trust and Counseling has not helped me. It has made me a better mom to my children because it raises your awareness and you realize trust nobody when it comes to your children. if you would like to know more please contact me.!!! hope this helps good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus alot of people don't look at you as the same person you use to be. It's like some one is taking a part of your life away and a part of you is gone

As you know when you get a scar it can't go away but in this case it's not actual scars (emotional scars). when a women are raped they start to look at guys different, afraid to go out at night or trust people i also had a friend that was beautiful & sexy she was raped in front of her parents and if u see her now u would think she was a guy (she start dressing like 1 walking like 1). Right now she is gay and she wasn't b4

Phsyical scarring can occur due to the lack of lubrication, tearing of skin is rather painful. Also their bodies are smaller, and cannot fully accomidate the size of a full grown adult.

There is also the emotion and mental scarring from having such a traumatic experience. Psychiactric help will be needed to ease the pain of the memories, as well as provide help with living with the anxiety.

going off of what someone said about PTSD some people after being in a situation like rap or attempted rape, because they are already emotionally withdrawn know that they must deal with the situation some how. That pain is part of the healing process, and because they cant feel the pain they will intentionally cut so that way the real pain is displaced. It is not like emo look at me i am cool or i want attention type cutting, its just thier way of feeling something in the situation. Its really hard to explain to people who have never experienced it

They mean emotional scars, their children either find it hard to trust, or the just have a harder time being around people or other stuff u do everyday, like go to parties. And they are always aware of what's going on around them because they fear it might happen again.

when people talk about scars its emotional...I know first hand, its the face or image of your attacker if you saw them. It was how it happened, where it happened, when it happened and other things that replay in your mind over and over again. The thoughts f why did it have to happen to me and it was all my fault are just 2 of the many thoughts that race through your mind when it first happens and those thoughts and images stay with you for the rest of your life. You have to learn to cope with it and get professional help to deal with it if neccessary.
