It does sound awful, if you understand what goes on in that persons body when they're injected. Especially if they aren't sedated properly. Ah man, capital punishment really makes me sad, I'm not saying I'm against it, but it's just an awful situation it seems like.

Lethal injection is the easy way out. I think the punishment should fit the crime. When they are conviced, or better yet admit to the murder, they should take one right in the temple. Saves both time and money.

I don't support the death penalty. That is just wrong. They are trying to act like God, let God deal with them, not the government.
Why can't just spend the rest of their life in prison? That would be a better punishment as the death penalty would be an easy way out for the criminal. That person should have to sit and think about what they did for the rest of their life.

Disembowelment is a cruel and unusual punishment, compared to getting a shot that puts you to sleep.
But hanging should be good enough for everybody. It was good enough for the people who wrote the Amendment against cruel and unusual punishment, so it is still good enough for our most heinous criminals, no?

um..if they remove lethal injection as a method of execution....how are we supposed to kill them......in the past there was hanging, firing squad, gas chamber, electric chair...most of these methods have been deemed "cruel and unusual"...i caught something about executionees experience a "burning, and stinging sensation"....what do you think their victims felt.....i'm on the fence about the death penalty to begin with....i do not feel it has always been the correct punishment, and sometimes when the criminal deserves the death penalty it is not enforced.....i don't know....i still question the validity of the death penalty....now i have to figure out how to kill them...what?!?

I think murder, rape, rape and torture, being molested as a child is cruel and unusual punishment and ruins you for life. So, the person who commits these acts doesn't deserve any sympathy from me. I think public hangings should come back and also fire up Old Sparky. I'd love to be the one to throw the switch.

My question is this...what is so cruel about putting someone to sleep? Hell...in Utah the death row inmates get to choose between lethal injection and the firing squad....Which would you choose?

In my opinion it isn't cruel enough. People aren't handed this punishment for cheating on their taxes. From all I have read and discussed it's very humane and painless. I trhink the question we need to ask is "Does this person deserve to die painlessly?"

If Americans would put to death more criminals who do serious crimes such as murder we would have a better society. This used to be a deterrent to crime, but now criminals know nothing will be done to them so they just do what they want. I don't think it is cruel, I think it is too lenient.

It isn't punishment, it's death. It seems to be the only humane way unless you want to go back to using electric chairs.
