It's a little different in all states but generally, it takes a First Aid Cert. a CPR Cert. and at least a 6 month apprenticeship. Some states require you to be a registered nurse which means you must qualified surgical ops support.

I don't know that you need any kind, depending what kind of shop you work in. You'd probably have to have all of your shots up to date and proof of them though. You might have to have some sort of cosmetology license. Look into it. I know a guy who pierced and he didn't have any certifications, but it was a whole in the wall kind of shop.

I think you can contact your local Chamber of Commerce for information. Different areas require different levels of certification.

You have to go through your local Department of health to get licensed.
