I wanted a specific camera from a store, but they said they didn't have it in stock until a week from that day. So I bought another camera that I didn't want so that when the camera that I did want came in I would just exchange it. I went back a week later and they told me they're not getting that camera ever again. Is there any way I could get my money back if they have a store credit only policy?

I've worked retail for a while and if they have an exchange policy only then most likely you'll have to get something else. I would do some research on a camera comparable to the one you wanted and get it instead. You could yell and what not but to be honest, no one likes helping these people. Be civil with the employees and they'd most likely help you find something that fits with what you're looking for.

Sadly I wouldn't think so. It's up to the store but on most electronics you can't exchange or return them after they have been used unless they are damaged in which case you would exchange it for a different camera of the same model.

If the policy was stated on the receipt, then, no. BUT, if the policy was not on the receipt, or posted in a plainly visiable area, you can probably get your money back, by causing a stink in the store.

Be a male, complain, make a big deal about it like its the end of the world, claim to be a huge customer. My father is a specialist at such things, often times being able to return things to stores he didn't even buy them from.
