It is absolutely possible, however very difficult. Everyone leaves tracks somewhere.
The other problem is 'being someone" implies that other people recognize that you exist in some form.

My brother has come pretty close. But you have to get an early start. He never got SSN's for any of his children--two of them were even born at home with a midwife--and he never sent them to school. He doesn't work, he lives off the (very little) interest income from an accident settlement he got years ago. He avoids all agencies of the government. His big plan is, when the apocalypse is nigh, he will withdraw the maximum possible in cash on all of his many credit cards and will then vanish into a cave in Idaho with his wife, children and weapons.

Survival would be all but impossible. Where would you live? how would you procure the things needed for survival? You would definitely lleave tracks somewhere and be discovered.
I am assuming that "being someone" means having an important standing in your community. the answer to that is a resounding "NO"

Yeah, you could become a 'street person'. Many of them are societal drop-outs.
