Compared to what? Safe is a qualitative not a quantitative term. Compared to cars, no, not as safe...that should be obvious since the motorcycle has no safety cage, airbags, etc.

Not at all . The best of drivers are no match for tons of steel on the road . Most times a bike gets into a drivers "blind spot" .A helmet isn't much protection when you loose a head .You are a sitting duck playing against a stacked deck whenever you ride one .Todays drivers are not looking out for someone on a motorcycle ; and the ones that do can not see them . Statistically speaking , it's like Russian Roulette to take one out on the roads .

Motorcycles are safe as long as you understand the dangers. For example, a motorcycle is safe if you wear a helmet and leather. A motorcycle is unsafe when you drive it at 70 mph down the highway, or weave in and out of traffic, or speed in the rain.
As long as you understand that you are not enclosed in a 1/2 ton of steel and airbags, that you are exposed body to pavement, and you respect that fact then yes, they are safe. But if you are reckless they are not.

Motorcycles are safe. Motorcycling is a high risk activity.

Most accidents are the fault of other drivers. Search "The Hurt Report", excellent research from 1981 by a man who's name was Hurt.

Not as safe as a car with four wheels and an interior.
In a collision the biker loses.
The fun factor of riding a bike outweighs the risk for most bikers.
If safety is your main concern stay in the car.

Nothing is 100 % safe on earth. BUT there is a lot of stuff, wich can protect you. e.g. Helmet, pads, special clothing, security training and carefully riding the bike. Like drivng the car : Cout with misstakes other drivers.

In my opinion, the more wheels you have on the ground, the better. Couple that "2-wheeled stability" (or lack of it) with the fact that there's nothing around you in case of an accident, and you're looking at a seriously dangerous situation!! You never know where the other guy's going, or if they're paying attention!!

any vehicle is safe if u r riding/driving it safely.
but as compared to cars and scooters i believe motorcycles are less safe!!!
car ofcourse have gr8 balance and safety features, but in scooters too, u have the space to ease ur legs and if get out of control u can easily throw yourself out of a scooter which is quite difficult in a bike.
if ur bike slips on the road there 70 to 80% change that ur legs r going to be hurt but in scooters u get out of it as soon as it slips...

last and most important thing is motorcycles dont hav any boot space so if u r carrying anything on it, u r kept busy with things that might divert your concentration from the traffic.

A motorcycle, in itself, can't hurt anyone, and is an economical and enjoyable means of transportation. The act of riding on one can be dangerous when in the hands of an inexperienced rider, one who thinks he or she can "hot dog" without consequenses, or one who is not paying attention to what's going on around him/her. SMART people who ride, rarely have problems. They prepare properly, wear proper clothing and safety equipment, and know that in an argument with a car, they're going to lose, so it's "rider beware" and make yourself very visible!

Every type of vehicle has some sort of risk involved. I think motorcycles are safe as long as you ride responsibly and drive defensively.
