If the 1st baseman touches the base with his glove and the ball in his throwing hand the runner is out by a force out, but if the play pulls the first baseman off the bag and he tags the runner with his glove and the ball in his throwing hand the runner is safe.

If he tags the base with his foot with the ball in his right hand then the runner is out because the first baseman has possession of the ball, but if he tagged the runner with his glove then the runner would be safe.

Since it would be considered a "force out", the runner is out (think about it - a normal play would be to tag the base with his foot, not the ball). If it's NOT a force out, the fielder must tag the player with the ball (or the glove if the ball is in the glove). This rule does not apply to Jorge Posada of the Yankees however, as shown in recent playoff games.

Yes, because he's hitting the base, which is an automatic out as long as the 1st baseman has the ball. Now, if he was tagging the hitter only, the hitter would be safe.

Yes, if it is a force play and the 1st baseman beats the runner to the base. If the player has control of the ball he can touch the base with any part of his/her body, including an empty hand, foot, etc.

Do you mean on a grounder? or do you mean from a pick off. if you mean, a ground ball to the infield, then yes it is an out. any force play means that you do not have to tag the runner and only have to have possesion of the ball and make contact with the base. If it is a pick off, then the runner has to be tagged and tagged with the ball which means it has to be in the hand that touches the runner.

Yes, if he tags the base, the batter is out as long as the 1B has the ball. If he tagged the runner with the empty hand, the runner would be safe.

He should be out. If all the first baseman has to do is touch the bag with his foot, then you would think that just touching it with his empty glove would count. I'm assuming you are talking about when the batter hits a grounder and the ball has to beat him to first base.

Yes, he has possesion of the ball. Unless the runner is returning to first base (on a ground ball). Then he must tag the runner.
