Yes, it is away of celebrating her will to let go of what was bad for her. She is starting again and it helps to not be sad because it is over but learn from her past experiences. The marriage was between her and your dad(I assume) not the kids. So, to you it may look bad because she is having a party but it is to help her feel better because she has to start over. She could have been a little more discrete so she could spare your feelings about it but yes it is common now a days.

Yes, its a great idea. Typicall divorce is a time of loss and grieving. Having a party when its over celebrates the opportunities that are ahead and offers closure to past.

On divorcing, most people feel some thing between relief and apprehension. But if the marriage was truly terrible and the settlement bigger than expected, why not celebrate? It must be hurtful for your dad though.

Yes it's a freedom thing like a graduation party she's happy the misery is over and now it's time to start a new life and do new things tell her congrats b/c it's her independence!!!!!!!!!
