That's an easy one. They look at the rain coming down and the first thing that hits there mind is how is tastes. So they stick their tongues out to see. After that I think it begins to be fun so they do it whenever they get a chance.

When my daughter chewed a piece off of a worm I asked her why? When she stuck her finger down the crack of her butt and licked it off (eww), I asked her why? The spoonful of sand, my chap stick, even her sisters flip flop, Why? When she colored on the wall with eyeliner & lipstick. Or when my son watched gleefully as he flushed my daughters Fur Real Friend down the toilet. And how about the time when we found the 2 day old fish floating upside down only to find out that it may have been the chocolate covered almonds sitting in the bottom of the tank that may have killed it.
I just shrug my shoulders, shake my head and hope they grow up normal. It's just one of those questions we'll never truely understand. They do things without knowing why, only because they can. :)

Rain is a wonderful phenomenon. It brings us water, which we need to live. It falls randomly out of the sky, makes a lovely noise and looks pretty.
Also it winds up the grown ups when you try and drink it!!!!!

Beacuse children are curious. If you were 5 and water started coming from the sky and you didn't know any better, wouldn't you drink it?

because adults like me teach our children fun (silly) things to do, and because we think its cute / funny to see them trying to do it... anyone who dissagrees should try this the next time it rains, before posting a negative comment
