Some time when it's not too hot and when I can escape most of the tourist crowd at the historical sites, perhaps. Does Egypt have seasons?

Best time is in the winter before Xmas crowd. Late October to early December. prices are very reasonable as well by this time.

most of Egypt is desert so i been in Desert in 3 differant months before, and the perfect month was October, about being away from crowded tourist this is not diffcult, cause it is almost have tourist around, just u need to chose good timing to make your visits to sight seeing, temples and tombs, if u need any more info contact more, sure i can give more advices, it is my country and my job. wish u nice trip.

the best time is definetly in fall. the temperatures cool down and the waters are still warmer than in spring. in case you plan not a beach vacation but a nile cruise down to assuan and luxor, please choose wintertime, still hot enough.
ray ray, i can see, that you've never been outside your country, cause what you want the embassy for? if you lost your passport, they give you a new one, but otherwise they are not of any assistance for tourists whatsoever. not in egypt, not anywhere else!! travel a bit first and then answer questions here in travel.

The best time is in mid September, as most of tourists leave by then, and also all students get back to collage or school.
so it won't be as crowded.
and the weather is still good for swimming, infact in Sharm & Hurghada you would still be able to swim till mid November.

Forget the weather and tourist. The best time to go is when the POLITICAL SITUATIONS are at an understanding. Another need to know, where the embassy is located from where you’ll be staying.
