The video that goes with the song gives a better interpretation of its meaning, but if you listen carefully you will note that its a beautiful world for you, not me, meaning not for DEVO. They were trying to bring home the point that while there are many wonderful things in the world, people are still starving and there is still war and hate and violence, as if we are all kidding ourselves about how evolved we have become. Which, is in essence the whole point of DEVO, to teach us about the meaning of Devolution, which is very real. So this song goes down in the DEVO catalog as being one of the most important songs that they have ever written, and as such a very favorite of DEVO fans.

OKAY! 1981. :) Found a lot of info on the tune, AND the tune itself. My opinion - genius. Like most of Devo's music. It paints a shinny, happy picture, til the end, when you realize he's talking about the world that everyone else sees, but not the way he sees it. Wish music today was this innovative. Thanks for bringing my attention to a great song!
