Be honest about the difficulties you experienced in high school. Your classmates will appreciate it.

Here you go (if you have a sense of humor)......
Graduating from high school is not much of an accomplishment these days, let's face it. In fact, that we have even gathered here this afternoon/evening seems somewhat ridiculous. Chances are, I will stay in touch with very few of you in the years to come (if I am the least bit successful). For some of you, these past 4 years will have been as good as it will ever get -- how pathetic. My advise: move on, meet new people, and experience great things. You owe it to yourself.

You should not seek advice from strangers who did not go to your school or know your experiences. The speech will not mean as much if it doesn't come from your heart and was written by people who have not gone through the same situations as you and your classmates. By all means use quotes and stories that relate to your classmates and teachers but once you sit down and start writing I am sure you will find the right words to say.

HI..talk about the standard teachers and friends, but also try to inspire a little bit by talking about how grateful you are for the hurdles that you have overcome and stress that you are also excited and now more prepared to challenge the obstacles that lay ahead. Your future is all of our future...
God Bless and Good Luck

Go to quoteland.com and find a good quote like,"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly."
-Buddha

Then talk about the quote in a way that it applies to you like, "though we might miss our times here at XYZ High School, we won't mourn them, we'll cherish them. And while it would be easy to worry about what the future holds for us, we will instead embrace our new experiences as they shape who we are. We'll take the advice of Buddha. We will live in the moment."

Something like that.

Read them a poem.... Shakespeare's pretty kewl.....

All the World's a Stage
by William Shakespeare

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Or if he's too verbose for you, try Kipling.....

[IF]

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

--Rudyard Kipling

Tell them that you learned absolutely nothing. And when they raise their eyebrows, say: "Except one thing. I learned to learn."
"I learned, that subjects are impossible to teach. Scienses are impossible to teach. Nothing is possible to teach. But anything and everything can be learned. I graduate today and become a learner. I will always learn and inspire others to learn. Today I make a conscious choice to grow and evolve. I will set my goals higher to reach my full potential, and in doing so I will fulfill my biggest destiny: to attain all of my personal goals, to be happy and successful and to share my aspirations with others. Thank you to all of you! And I also want to thank myself: I did a grerat job. Thank you.
