Art is all around us. What we may think of art may not be appreciated as much as it should be. (They cannot appreciate what they cannot understand. It is sad!)
But there are forms of art that most people are familiar with & can enjoy, even if we do not really consider these things as actual "art". These might include anything from advertisements & movies to nature &/or gardens, etc... Art is almost any form of self-expression.

They don't understand it, so they never attempt to appreciate it. Once someone takes the time to look at a piece of art and find a way to relate to it, they will finally appreciate it. Unfortunately, in the world we live in today, everyone wants instant satisfaction that is easy to understand. This is leading to a loss of art and no appreciation for the art that exists.

Isn't that a bit of an over-generalization?
I happen to enjoy and appreciate a good piece of art work, even though I'm not especially talented in that area.

I think that everyone appreciates art...it just depends on what their idea of art is. I appreciate photography but I'm not too fond of painting. It's just my personal preference.

I think that some people figure that art is just a waste of time that a person could busy working in the rat race instead. I am not that such kind of person.
