After you lay black top how long do you have to wait to seal it..?

we have just laid a little strip of black top in the drive we have no ideal how long if any to wait to seal it..

You really don't need to seal asphault at all. After all you don't see the highway department going around sealing the highways do you?? Seal coating is more of an appearance item. sealing open cracks before freezing weather is always a good idea though. In summary seal it when is starts to look bad.

When we had our driveway done, they told me 6 months to a year-that's in New England.
